Dispute resolution law in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is under both local and federal laws and regulations. The UAE legal system is based on a combination of civil law, Sharia law and customary law. Disputes are typically handled through mediation or arbitration processes, which are governed by the UAE Civil Procedure Law. Likewise, this law provides a framework for resolving disputes between two or more parties out of court and provides the court with the authority to enforce the resolution. Additionally, the UAE has signed a number of bilateral agreements and treaties with other countries that provide for the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments.
